From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Transport or transportation is the movement of people and goods from one location to another. Modes of transport include air, rail, road, water, cable, pipeline, and space. The field can be divided into infrastructure, vehicles, and operations. Transport infrastructure consists of the fixed installations necessary for transport, and may be roads, railways, airways, waterways, canals and pipelines, and terminals such as airports, railway stations, bus stations, warehouses, trucking terminals, refueling depots (including fueling docks and fuel stations), and seaports. Terminals may be used both for interchange of passengers and cargo and for maintenance. Vehicles traveling on these networks may include automobiles, bicycles, buses, trains, trucks, people, helicopters, and aircraft. Operations deal with the way the vehicles are operated, and the procedures set for this purpose including financing, legalities and policies. In the transport industry, operations and ownership of infrastructure can be either public or private, depending on the country and mode. Passenger transport may be public, where operators provide scheduled services, or private. Freight transport has become focused on containerization, although bulk transport is used for large volumes of durable items. Transport plays an important part in economic growth and globalization, but most types cause air pollution and use large amounts of land. While it is heavily subsidized by governments, good planning of transport is essential to make traffic flow, and restrain urban sprawl. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What will happen if i transport minors with a provisional license? Q. I'm 16 and i just got my license. I don't drive yet but i'd like to know what exactly would happen if i transport people under 20 years of age before waiting a full year. I.E: I'm transporting my teen friends and get pulled over for not yielding or something like that and the officer sees i'm not supposed to drive minors, will i just get fined or will my license be suspended? As far as I know, a police officer is capable of taking your license away until you are 21 for such an offense. Even so, I've heard of them just giving you a warning and telling you not to do it again. I probably just wouldn't risk it if I were you. I know a girl who got caught breaking this rule and got her license taken away until she was 18. Your friends might make fun of you for not doing it, but you only have to wait a few months before it's legal. If you just hold out, then you won't risk having your license revoked. Also, the law is out there for a reason: new drivers are generally very easily distracted. If you get in a wreck because someone who wasn't… [cont.] Answered by MorvAreed - Sun Apr 19 17:33:14 2009 How do you transport fish in a car? Q. I am a college student and will be going home for Thanksgiving and eventually winter break very soon. I have two goldfish, (they are fantail goldfish) who live in a glass bowl in my apartment. I live instate and will be driving back to my parents house which is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Does anyone have an suggestions on how I can safely transport my fish from my apartment to my parents house. I can't leave them in my room alone for school breaks because they will die. Thank you! You can generally leave fish alone for a couple of weeks without feeding them. You can get those feeder blocks (which most fish people will not recommend) or you can put some elodea or other water weed into the tank for the fish to eat in your absence. It is not easy to transport fish in cars, and it does seem unnecessary if you are not going for a long period of time. If you need to remove your pets in your absence, I would go to the pet store to get some of those fish travel bags that you buy the fish in- most pet stores will be happy to help you. Half fill the bag with water, and then try to fill some with air before sealing the bag with a rubber band. If your fish are in a bowl, tip… [cont.] Answered by B!nd! - Thu Nov 12 01:03:32 2009 How do you transport fish over long distances?
Q. We currently have a 30 gallon freshwater aquarium. We'll be moving next month and we'll need to drive about 3 hours to our new place. What's the best way to transport our 14 fish without them dying along the way? Asked by jar_kar - Wed May 10 11:53:33 2006 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments A. There are many ways you can do this. However if you have any decor in your tank, I'd remove it ands put it in plastic bags. Option 1: Go to Petsmart or similar. They will pack your fish for you for free in plastic bags with oxygen. Option 2. Get a small battery operated aerator/pump. Drain out half the water, put the aerator/pump in and then load up the tank. Cover it very securely, and then drive (14 fish cannot survive in 15 gallons of water- hence the aerator to boost oxygen) Option 3- I do not know what sort of fish you have. If they are Zebra danios or other hardy fish, then you are unlikely to lose fish if you are sensible about it. However, if you have delicate/expensive fish, you might seriously wish to consider Option 1.
